Welcome to
my blog, I am Lucy Hawksworth currently a second year studying fashion
communication at Birmingham City University. I have set this blog up firstly to
document my process through out my final project of second year and then maybe
to continue it to show you my journey through the rest of university and into
the fashion industry as well as everything that inspires me along the way.
The project
I am currently doing is called BRAND X GENERATION and from this point right now
I have exactly 30 days to complete it, so from now till then I am hoping to update
you daily on my progress. The aim from this project is to get me ready for
third year by advancing my skills in the specific fashion pathway I chose this
year which was communication. The basics of the brief I have been given is:
‘As communication students you will be asked to
forecast key trends for AW-2017/2018, extracting from the LS-N Global macro
trend ‘BACKLASH BRANDS’ as your
initial thread. This will be explored and documented through a series of illustrations,
design details, photography, multi-media, primary, and core research [cultural/theoretical/artistic].
Your must endeavour to create a visual package
pitched at HUGO BOSS in collaboration
with an alternative designer/brand of your choice [**research and nominate an
unfamiliar brand to push your approaches]. You will develop and design your own
capsule X collection Womenswear or Menswear], inspired and directed by your
trend outcome. Finally, you will create the brand identity and consider the
launch/marketing of your collection.’
Just from
reading this I know I want to do a Womenswear collection, but I am a little clueless
about what the Hugo Boss brand is about as I myself have never shopped there so
I think my first step should be to research into the brand and visit a store. Then
I can begin thinking about my collaboration and trend. I am excited to begin
brainstorming and collecting ideas, see you tomorrow.
