I have created
a few patterns to be used through out my collection. I wanted to focus more on
shape than pattern though so I have only made two. The first one is a simple
grid print in pink and white, I got my inspiration for this from basic bathroom
wall tiles that popped up a lot of my concept imagery, it seemed to be part of
the whole bad girl aesthetic. I made it by simply tracing over the tiles on Photoshop
and making the lines pink. The second pattern I made is inspired by Frida Kahlo
with her face and flowers repeatedly painted in water colours to create the
pattern. This again is another pink pattern and I made this by just simply
editing the image into a grey and pink image adjusting the already made pattern
to fit in with my collection and colour scheme. This second one is my favourite
out of the two and I can imagine looking could on some of the plainer pieces in
my collection such as pants or bomber jackets.
As for
fabrics I am thinking of going for jersey materials for some of the pieces such
as t-shirts and tracksuits. I also want to mix in some satin and silk type of
fabrics maybe used on bomber jackets and coats to give a more girly feel to
this big masculine oversized pieces. I will also use denim but it will be dyed
denim mostly in pink so it looks almost synthetic and unnatural. Last of all I
want to use a stretchy type of fishnet fabric probably synthetic to layer under
and on top of my main garments.
