FRIDA KAHLO

Frida Kahlo may not seem like an expected person to look at for girl gangs, because she often was alone as she suffered life long health problems after being injured in a traffic accident and recovering from her injury’s isolated her from other people. However, she was one of the first feminist and everyone who is now is still fighting for equal rights should look up to her. She was an artist from Mexico and many people would say she was a ‘surrealist’, but she rejected this label as she believed her work reflected more of her reality then her dreams She often would draw her self because she said ‘I paint myself because I am so often alone and because I am the subject I know best’.

She was in a troubled marriage with another artiest Diego Rivera who’s work she admired. She often had affairs with both men and women which caused many problems as well as their equally irritable temperaments. Her most known attributes are her floral head bands, bright closet and mono-brow.I feel she shows girls you don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. She was a free sprit and I think realised she didn’t need a man as she was fully able to explore her self with in her paintings, She didn’t need another human being to justify herself. Her style is very classic Mexican and I want to take her attitude to life, floral vibes and eyebrows into consideration when I design.
