The basic overview of the silhouettes I will be using in this collection are quite masculine shapes with the majority of pieces being oversized. I found these silhouettes through my concept imagery picking garment shapes out.
I also wanted to use oversized silhouettes to cover the body of a woman so she can’t be sexualised by men. I got this idea from the Sukeban girls and how they wore long skirts so they couldn’t be sexualised like a lot of school girls in Japan were being at the time and still are now. Their will be a lot of baggy maxi dresses and skirts in my collection loosing all shape of the woman’s body underneath. I want to pair these with oversized embroidered bomber jackets. Its also going to be full of sportswear and street wear kind of silhouettes so again loose and relaxed tracksuit and hoodie type shapes. The sporty feel comes from the typical street gang ideas as they a known for the full tracksuit and trainers look.
I want to incorporate a lot of layers to create this oversized look so will also be using bras, large knickers and leggings over and under my main larger pieces. The underwear worn over certain looks will also be because of the feminism vibes in my concept and the fact that bras are often something women are not allowed to show in public, but why not? Why be embarrassed about a piece of clothing?
The picture below is a page pulled from my trend and design book where i defined my silhouettes showing where is came from.
